The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has in a release called on the government to pay all National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) arrears with immediate effect.
According to the statement issued by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), it acknowledged NHIS as a social intervention in health care financing has since improved the well-being and healthcare-seeking behavior of Ghanaians.
However, it added that the NHIA has failed to pay both private and public health facilities for services provided from March 2019 to date.
The statement revealed some facilities have threatened to withdraw services to NHIS cardholders unless the government pays all arrears in full.
