The Management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has as part of an effort to limit the spread of the novel disease outlined safety protocols to be observed by the University community as it prepares towards June 15, schools reopening for final year students.
The President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo in his 10th televised address to the citizenry on May 31 announced for schools to be reopened to only final year students for them to complete their academic year and proceed to sit for their exit exams.
The Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan in a statement obtained by GeorgeWeb said all halls, library, and academic areas would be fumigated before the President’s date for schools to resume on Monday, June 15.
The registrar additionally stated that all final year students would be accommodated in the halls of residence with at least two students in a room.
“However, students who had special cases justifying their stay in self-rented hostels would be considered on the merit of their cases” he added.
The University in the statement indicated that a special room, at least one in each hall would be picked for quarantine and management by the university’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Task-force.
To ensure compliance with safety protocols and social distancing rule, only big lecture halls would be used for revision, examination, and tutorials.
It was said in the statement that the students, staff, and the entire university community are obliged to comply with the “No face mask no entry” policy adding that, each student would be provided with two masks.
Putting all recommended protocols in place, the Management said Veronica buckets, soaps, and alcohol-based hand sanitizers would be provided at entry points to facilities such as the halls, library, lecture theatres, and all academic areas.

The statement furthered that students would have their temperature checked before entering into the halls and other facilities, adding that there would be no church services, movement in other halls, and other large gatherings.
