The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced for the suspension of its second conduct of examination after it earlier suspended 2020 WASSCE for school candidates. The management of WAEC said it has put on hold the conduct of the annual May/June 2020 General and Advanced Business Certificate Examinations (G/ABCE) amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and also several confirmed cases of the disease in the country.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said this decision is in line with the government’s directives on the suspension of all school activities and ban on public gathering until further notice.
According to President Akufo-Addo, these precautionary measures will limit the chances of making others contract the virus.
The President after subsequent suggestion and appeal from the Teacher Unions to allow final year students and teachers to go home so as not to expose them to the disease has finally announced for school closure for all final year students in Junio High School and Senior High Schools until further notice.
WAEC said a new date will be announced for General and Advanced Business Certificate Examinations (G/ABCE) in due course as soon as the current situation is under control
