The District Chief Executive for Akatsi North, Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu has announced to celebrate teachers in the District in October this year.
The forthcoming event, dubbed ” Teachers Day” will basically reward teachers and motivate them to stay dedicated to improving education in the District.
The announcement was made during the 63rd Independence Day celebration parade at Ave-Dakpa, the District capital.
He expressed the happiness of the Assembly amid the performance of schools in the District in the Basic Education Certificate Examination last year with the majority of the schools scoring 100% accurate passes.
The DCE, on the other hand, said a similar performance was noticed in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination and outlined the need to celebrate the teachers.
He added that the Assembly is ever ready to invest in education and promised to financially support pupils and students who excel in the external examination by means of scholarship.
In the District’s effort to curb teenage pregnancy, Dr. Amuzu urged parents to continuously engage adolescent girls and encourage them to know the benefits of being in school.
The celebration was on the theme, “consolidating our gains,” which invited pupils and students, heads of decentralized institutions, traditional rulers and the clergy among others.
