The Wa West District Assembly has honoured eleven students and some schools in the district for their outstanding performance in the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The purpose of the award is to boost the competitive challenge among schools and students in the district.
The district assembly honoured 5 of the female students who had aggregate 6 to 20, this award is to encourage girl-child education in the district.
The DCE, Mr. Edward Larbiri Sabo presented the prizes ranging from GHÂ¢600.00 to GHÂ¢1000.00, to the award winners during the 63rd independence Day Anniversary celebration.
Two best-performed schools in the district were also given a Nasco 32-inches LED television set.
Mr. Sabo said, the purpose of the best student, best school and best teacher award is to encourage hard work among pupils and schools, especially in the forthcoming BECE.
He added that as part of the Assembly’s measures to enhance quality education, classroom blocks have been built in some schools. Adding that six motorbikes have been donated by the Member of Parliament to the education directorate in the district to enable proper monitoring and supervision.
The DCE assured the district that they will not relent on their effort as an assembly rather they will continue to partner with the education directorate so as to ensure quality education to our children in the district.
He additionally said Dorimon Senior High and Wechiau Senior High Technical Schools have been introduced in the district by the government to make education accessible to more students in the area.
