First coronavirus recovery has reportedly been recorded in Ashanti Region, the Ghana Health Service has confirmed.¬†The recovery was proclaimed on the official website¬†of Ghana Health Service today.
According to the Health Service, a victim tested positive for the novel coronavirus and being treated has recovered in Atonsu Agogo Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
The man was said to be one of many people who traveled to the country early this month when Ghana started recording confirmed cases of the global pandemic. He is so far Ghana’s first recovery from coronavirus.
He was compulsorily quarantined on arrival after showing symptoms similar to that of coronavirus and later tested positive for the disease.
The Ashanti Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang, said: “He is Physically doing well but will be recovered fully in 28 days per public health standards.‚ÄĚ
The patient testing negative after several tests were conducted was permitted to leave the hospital and self-isolate for 28 days.
However, the Health authority said he¬†would be tested after the self-isolation to confirm full recovery.
Meanwhile, as of now Ghana’s coronavirus cases have risen to 132 with 3 death.
