The media spokesperson for the Education Minister, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, has confirmed in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is currently detained at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), in Accra
According to the spokesperson, the Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency, Matthew Opoku Prempeh on Tuesday, June 16 underwent various tests, including the COVID-19 test after he feeling ill for a couple of days.
He added that NAPO as of that time tested positive for the virus which made him went to his constituency for his popular acclamation on Saturday, June 20 this year.
“The Member of Parliament in his return to Accra still felt unwell and as a medical doctor decided to check himself for the further tests including a second test for COVID-I9.” Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng said.
He furthered that NAPO has been detained at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) as a precautionary measure for further
observation, due to his condition.
As the test results are not yet out, the general public is urged to be calm over the issue because according to him Hon Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has pledged to make his test public.
