The novel coronavirus has not only affected the country negatively but also has helped the country in some positive ways, the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for COVID-19 National Trust Fund, Madam Sophia Akuffo has disclosed Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country will soon be beneficiaries of the fund.
She noted that as part of measures to prevent an outbreak of the pandemic in schools, the Government of Ghana (GoG) had already distributed PPE’s and logistics to various educational institutions, adding that the Trust Fund will offer additional support to the schools, particularly Senior high schools.
The Chairperson proclaimed this while receiving donations from institutions at the secretariat at the Jubilee House, Accra.
She gave an assurance that the Akufo-Addo led government is dedicated to ensuring the safety of the students, teachers, and non-teaching staff during their stay in school so that they don’t return home with the virus to infect others.
The group of donors was Church of Christ, Avic International Holding Corporation, a Chinese company that donated 12, 000 pieces of face mask, 140 pieces of goggles, and 100 packs of hand gloves.
Others included the Mushroom Growers and Exporters, Transit Cargo Limited, Universal Pan African Coalition of Ghana in collaboration with the Diaspora Affairs and the National Pensions Regulatory Authority.
