A statement issued by the management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) indicates that the University will from March 30 to April 13, 2020, fumigate facilities on the university premises.
The statement indicated the fumigation exercise will be extended to areas like administration block, library, lecture halls, laboratories, halls of residence, amongst others.
It further explained that the fumigation exercise is part of the precautionary measures to curb the widespread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
All KNUST administrative and academic staff, with the exception of staff rendering essential services, are to stay away from the office effective Wednesday, March 25. the statement said.
It added that teaching staff may continue to work from home and conduct classes with students online.
“They should ensure that students are given regular and timely assignments for them to submit them on time,” the statement said.
The management in the statement urged academic staff to make use of the University’s online classroom, which has been equipped to handle all online-based academic activities.
