The management of the University of Ghana, Legon (UG) has disclosed it will from March 30, 2020, resume lessons online. the university will from the mentioned date be using its Sakai Learning Management System (LMS) for online teaching and learning.
It added that Faculty and students will use the platform for the remaining seven weeks of the second semester which ends May 15, 2020, unless the Universities open earlier than this date.
According to the management, this is in consonance with the Ministry of Education’s drive and the National Council for Tertiary Education’s (NCTE) communique to tertiary institutions to ensure continuous education in the face of the closure of educational institutions. It is also in line with global trends where universities and colleges of repute continue to engage their students through online resources to avoid educational systems grinding to a halt.
The statement indicated that preparations are underway to provide Vodafone SIMs to all prospective students and faculty to facilitate access to the virtual learning platforms.
